Fort Worth With Kids

We started our Texan adventure in Fort Worth.  I decided to base ourselves here as I thought Dallas was too big and there would be more to do in FW.  This turned about to be a great decision.

Getting There
It took us 30 mins in a taxi from Dallas Fort Worth Airport to downtown Fort Worth

I highly recommend the Embassy Suites.  You can read my Tripadvisor review here but this really did tick all the boxes in terms of a big suite at a decent price, friendly service with a big included breakfast.

Getting Around
We picked up our hire car from Avis, approx 15 mins walk from the hotel.  Read my post on Hiring a Car and try to get a discount

Fort Worth has a lovely, stroller friendly downtown.

The Texas Native Forest Boardwalk at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens is great for toddlers.

We loved the Log Cabin Village, a collection of cabins from Texas’ pioneer era, all manned by staff dressed in vintage clothes and sharing old stories.

Check out the beautiful, daring ladies at the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame.  There’s a play area for kids and they’ll love the interactive exhibitions including a bucking bronco.

You can’t visit Fort Worth without heading to the Stockyards, a historic district famous for its cowboy museums, cattle drive, rodeo, restaurants and shops.  Check here for the cattle drive schedule

Amazing BBQ at Coopers
Great burgers at Jakes
