Relaxing In The British Airways Lounge, Changi Airport

As my Marco Polo status has slowly diminished to nil over the past year, luckily Mr Jetlag is still clinging on to his diamond status. Which means we had the pleasure of using the British Airways lounge, when we flew Singapore to Melbourne on Qantas, the starting point for our Tasmania Roadtrip.  The BA lounge is located in Changi’s Terminal 1. I’d say overall the lounge portrays a far more sleek and sophisticated image than when you’re actually flying onboard a British Airways aircraft….

Who can use the British Airways lounge?

British Airways is part of the oneworld alliance There’s a few ways you can be eligible for lounge access, including if you’re flying business (we weren’t), Silver/Gold of BA Executive Club or Emerald/Sapphire on oneworld.

Where is the lounge located?

You’ll find the lounge in Changi’s Terminal 1, just up an escalator as you’ve come through Immigration.

What’s in the lounge?

The lounge is spacious with lots of different seating options. Each seat has a plug point and some charger access.

There’s an ok selection of papers and magazines although nothing particularly exciting.

There’s a seating area with a TV (I think they had on Bloomberg)

There’s a couple of Macs for use and plenty of desk space.

What’s the food and drink like?
I was pleasantly surprised by the food and drink, in fact I think it’s far better than BA serves up at Heathrow. The chicken satay were excellent! I also love a lounge with a decent fruit and cheese selection as that’s what I prefer to scoff before a flight.

The main food section has a buffet set up in the middle (depending on what time of day you arrive) and then cheese/fruit to one side and soft drinks on the other. I have to satay is some of the best I’ve eaten in Singapore!

The bar has an extensive selection and there’s also plenty of hot/soft drinks available.  Although I couldn’t help but tuck into a couple of glasses of red wine (to get sleepy before the flight you see).
