Singapore aka ‘the Little Red Dot’ is a tropical country located between Malaysia and Indonesia. Popular as a stop off point for far-flung destinations, Singapore is a fantastic destination in itself with attractions ranging from Universal Studios to the Gardens By The Bay. As with any busy tourist hotspot, there are a huge amount of accommodation options on offer. I’ve stayed in quite a few of them over the years from the Sentosa Resort & Spa (now operated under Sofitel) to the Studio M, near Robertson Quay. This time I was spending two nights at the Rendezvous Hotel, part of the Far East Hospitality Group.
Where is the hotel?
The Rendezvous is in the heart of the Arts & Heritage District. the Bras.Basah.Bugis Precinct. Here you’ll find museums, galleries, shops and you’re only a 20 minute drive to Singapore Changi Airport.
The hotel reflects its location perfectly as it is filled with different art mediums from sculpture to interactive displays (you can even request a tour of the hotel’s art if you so desire!)
What kind of rooms are there?
There are 6 different room types ranging from a Superior Room to Executive Suite. Club, Junior and Executive will gain you access to the Club Rendezvous and other privileges.
What was my room like?
I was lucky enough to be staying in a Junior Suite under their rather romantic ‘Rendezvous In The City’ package. The room was absolutely divine. It was a unique occasion as we were traveling without Jetlag & Mayhem so greatly appreciated our ‘love’ themed room. On entry was a desk and sitting area with chaise lounge and coffee table.
Then on the other side of the enormous TV, a big comfy bed (plus pillow menu!).
My favourite part of the room was the bathroom with separate shower and free-standing tub. The package includes romantic touches such as prosecco & strawberries and pampering bath treats. I also loved the adorable romantic t-shirts!
The Rendezvous in the City also includes Complimentary Breakfast & Suite Room Privileges: club lounge access and free mini-bar.
What’s Club Rendezvous like?
If you can get a room with club access, do it. Located on the 11th floor, then Club is ace with plentiful seating options and best of all, free eating opportunities. The breakfast buffet is excellent and at happy hour you can enjoy two hours of complimentary snacks and drinks. Which means you may be fairly tipsy and full before you even venture out for dinner….
What are the facilities like at the hotel?
There’s a beautiful pool (perfect for escaping the incessant Singapore heat) and a decent gym.
I also loved the Library which has a selection of cozy chairs, books and magazines. The Library is also home to a complimentary movie night, a friendly touch especially if you are in town alone on business.
What are the dining options?
The Straits Cafe offers dining throughout the day including a huge breakfast buffet.
As we had club lounge access, we ate our breakfast in there (good buffet selection). Singapore is a foodies’ heaven, check out the hawker centres for delicious, cheap local food.
Would I recommend the Rendezvous Hotel?
Without a doubt, yes! The location provides an amazing launchpad to explore the National Museum of Singapore, Singapore Art Museum and many other galleries. You’re also a short walk to the shops at Orchard (or hop on the MRT at Bras Basah if the heat’s got you beat). There are a lot of boring, traditional hotels in Singapore but the Rendezvous is fun, colourful and decent value for money.
Jetlag & Mayhem stayed at the Rendezvous Hotel on a media rate. I was not paid for this review and this is all my opinion.
