If you’re heading to Italy, then read on for 6 things you must try in Italy. Ciao!

Experience an Opera

You can see an opera anywhere in the world. But in Italy, it’s a true experience for all the senses. Italy is opera’s homeland, it’s where it originates from, so of course it’s going to be the best in the world. Nothing can compare! You don’t have to be an opera superfan to appreciate this wonderful spectacle. Where else could you sit in a Roman amphitheatre and enjoy this incredible experience but in Italy? Fall in love with art

If you head to Florence, make sure you stop at Uffizi Gallery and soak up some of the best, most well known and largest collection of Renaissance Art in the world. All of these incredible collections are housed within examples of incredible architecture. The Birth of Venus, Portrait of Pope Leo X, even Medusa by Caravaggio are all world famous pieces that you might know from books, TV and even reproductions but nothing is better than seeing them in person.

Head to Sardinia

The beauty of the south of Italy cannot be matched anywhere else in the world. Which is probably why most Italians head there for some sun, sea and relaxation. Famous for it’s beautiful beaches and stunning coastline, Sardinia is the perfect place to catch some rays and even avoid other travellers.

Step back in time at Pompeii

We all know the terrible fate of the people of Pompeii and what happened when Mt Vesuvius erupted and destroyed everything in its path. But what has been left behind is an incredible piece of history that anyone who visits Italy must see for themselves. A Roman city, frozen in time is an eerie and astonishing sight – but if you want to see some of the artefacts that were recovered from Pompeii then head to the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.

Eat gelato. Daily.

Real gelato, in Italy. What more could you ask for? You can find gelato anywhere in Italy, so there really are no excuses for not eating it at least 3 times a day! And in fact, it’s made with milk not cream – so it’s not as bad for you as you might think!

Go on a pilgrimage

Head to the Vatican City and you’ll be glad you took the time. Take in the majesty of the Vatican Palace and the beautiful Sistine Chapel, if you really want to validate your visit you could book tickets for the Papal Audience these are usually held on Wednesdays. Make sure you do plenty of research before you go so you’re not disappointed or miss out.
